Look Ahead launches new Tower Hamlets Young People Service

Look Ahead has recently launched a new support pathway for young people in partnership with Tower Hamlets Council.

Look Ahead has recently launched an innovative integrated support and accommodation pathway for young people, our Tower Hamlets Young People Service, in partnership with the local council.

The new model builds on Look Ahead’s existing supported housing services, which we have delivered in the borough for ten years.

The pathway combines housing and support with evidence-based therapeutic approaches, as well as new floating and visiting support for customers with lower acuity needs.

The service operates out of 12 properties, eight of which are owned by Look Ahead, and can house 109 young people aged 16-25 for a period of 18-months to two years. The model includes Ofsted regulated support and can also accommodate young people with experience of care, and young parents.

This offer has been developed with valuable input from Look Ahead partners, including clinical expertise from Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr Sri Kalidindi C.B.E, and research from MAC-UK, a psychology led organisation that takes mental health out of clinics and into communities, supporting and empowering young people where and when they need it.

Look Ahead Chief Executive Chris Hampson said:

We are delighted to launch this innovative new service pathway in Tower Hamlets, which I am confident will support many local young people to live more independently, look after their mental health and make positive steps forward in their lives.

We are confident that this new approach will have an even bigger impact than our previous provision, and we look forward working with our wide range of partners in Tower Hamlets to achieve this.
